Welcome to the Friends of the Louisville Free Public Library!

Friends of the Louisville Free Public Library, a voluntary, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, is made up of citizens who are interested in promoting the welfare and growth of their library, in enriching its resources, and in making its services better known to the community. Through our direct gifts, programs, and publications, our goal is to stimulate awareness and use of The Library, and to enhance library programs, materials, and services.

Since its founding in 1977, Friends have helped fund “Reading Power,” held over 50 semi-annual book sales, hosted 12 Kentucky Author dinners, funded the Sara Bein Scholarships each semester, sponsored numerous free-to-the-public lectures and initiated several family programs.

Proceeds from the fundraising events go toward children’s programs, library branches, Friends chapter grants, and public lectures and events. Your annual membership will enable Friends to continue funding these worthy projects.

The Board also seeks Friends members to help with its various committee functions throughout the year, including Branch Relations, Membership Recruitment, Volunteer Recruitment and Communications.  Please contact us for more information about helping with these endeavors.  No time commitment is too small!
